(Kaohsiung‒Penghu, November 19, 2025) — One Smart Solution, a sub sidiary of Darwin Group, has partnered with AUO and Taiwan’s marine gateway, the Penghu Ferry, to launch Taiwan’s first smart mobility display technology pilot project. By integrating Micro LED transparent displays and augmented reality (AR) into maritime services, the initiative marks a significant milestone in the convergence of smart transportation and tourism.
Chairman Michael Tsai of One Smart Solution noted that Kaohsiung’s yacht industry accounts for over 80% of Taiwan’s total output and ranks fourth globally. The Micro LED transparent displays seamlessly blend digital content with real ocean views, enhancing the immediacy and interactivity of travel information while showcasing Taiwan’s advanced display technology. The Penghu Ferry’s distinctive“ Pong Pong” mist whale identity further connects the experience to the region’s rich marine ecology.
The pilot program, guided by the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and National Sun Yat-sen University, has already attracted more than 12,000 passenger experiences. It features cartoon mascots, AR interactive challenges, and an AI-enabled information platform, creating an educational and engaging family travel experience.
AUO’s next-generation Micro LED transparent display, delivering over 600 nits of brightness with a P0.692 mm pixel pitch, ensures clear visibility in outdoor marine environments. The Penghu Ferry also introduces a museum-grade digital art gallery using AUO High Fidelity ART Displays, as well as 31.5-inch Spectra 6 e-paper signage for low-power, eye-friendly information and advertising displays.
Chairman Tsai emphasized that the integration of Micro LED and AR technologies is a key driver of innovation in maritime transportation. Based on the pilot results, the solution is planned for expansion to other domestic and international island and coastal transit routes, supporting the next wave of Smart Transportation 2.0.
